Macro - Country Economic Forecasts - Sudan
Description
GDP growth: After contracting sharply in 2024 amid armed conflict, agricultural disruption, and collapsing government revenue, the economy rebounded faster than expected last year, growing by 3.1% instead of shrinking further. However, the ongoing conflict in the country, together with the war in the Middle East, will weigh on growth this year. Elevated inflationary pressures, which are squeezing household finances, will also act as a drag on the economy in the near term. We assume that the domestic conflict will most likely come to an end in late 2027 or early 2028. On that basis, we expect economic growth to remain subdued next year before accelerating in 2028.
